I
didn't know Mike
Haring very well, even though he was one of the
many people I went to school with during our entire Everett
Public Schools tour:
grades 1-6 at Washington Elementary School; grades 7-9 at
North Jr. High; and grades 10-12 at Everett High. However,
he always struck me as a decent, cheerful guy, who tried to
be everyone's friend. I remember his name and face, playing
on the school grounds in elementary school, in Little League
baseball at Bagshaw Field, and in many of my classes
throughout grades 1-12. Although I had not seen Mike since
high school, I was sorry to learn of his recent, premature
passing from diabetes. My condolences to his friends and
family, who no doubt wish he'd remained longer on this
earth. Bill Hughes, 03/24/2009
Sandy Wells
Johnson was a dear friend of mine, since the
seventh grade. She passed away from breast cancer after a
long, hard battle. I am proud to have called her my friend.
I have lived in Arizona for 15 years, but Sandy, Virginia,
and I still got together whenever possible. I think of
Sandy often and miss her much. Sue Shipley,

Dave
Smith was a father, husband, and friend to many
during his short life Dave was killed in action in Vietnam,
in May 1970. His name appears on Panel 10W, Line 57 of the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial - commonly known as The Wall. This picture (click

I had
known Mary Ann Crist Simpson
since first grade, at Immaculate Conception School. We
didn’t become good friends until after high school, while we
were both working for the Everett Clinic, and then playing
soccer together for many years. It will be hard not having
her with us for our 40-year class reunion. Jane

Sandy
Wells Johnson was a very important part of my life;
she was always there, never questioning. To this day, I hope
that I supported her as much as she did me throughout our
long friendship. Sandy endured a tough fight with breast
cancer and ultimately lost that battle. Throughout her
ordeal she was extremely strong. Sandy was amazingly upbeat,
worrying more about others than she did herself. I admire
her strength and miss her daily. It’s difficult to express
the impact that friends such as Sandy have on your life. She
was a strong, beautiful woman who was extremely proud of her
children and husband. Our families were fortunate to have
been so close; I will remain honored to have known and loved
her. Virginia Gilstad Corley, 05/22/2007
A former EHS 1967 classmate,
Joe Hottendorf, became my
brother-in-law, before he was taken by Hodgkin's Disease at the young age
of 26. He left behind two wonderful kids and a large extended
family, which loved him a great deal. We shared some great times together in our early-
to
mid-twenties, before I moved my family to Texas. Bill

Hi, my name is John Roche. Some of
you might have known my Mom (Gail Clark Roche) and Dad (Jim Roche, EHS '66) in
high school. My Dad actually graduated in '66 I think, but I was
just wondering if any of you were good friends of his and wanted to
share any stories. He passed away a couple years ago and I was just
thinking about him. Anyway, thanks, and if you do think of anything,
please send it to my e-mail at
suprman70ss@yahoo.com,
Thank you. John Roche, 05/18/2007. Editorial note:
Our condolences to John Roche since his note above, for the
subsequent, untimely
2008 loss of his mother and our classmate,
Gail Clark Roche.

I plan to be at our [40-year] reunion, but it will be difficult
without my best friend, Chris Pedack Bacon. She really enjoyed
seeing everyone at our last several reunions, laughing and talking
into the wee hours of the morning. Sue Moe Mason,

I share this with y'all since we did have friends in
other classes at EHS. The memorial for
Tom Hofer (EHS
'65) was held today at Solies. My friendship with Tom,
Jerry Morgan (EHS '65, demised '03) and others goes back
40 or 50 years. Tom, Jerry and I were close, especially in
the 70's and 80's. We flew together - fixed wing and helo's
- and lived our lives to the fullest. Was sorry to give my
condolences to Tom's mother, Lucile, whom I have have known
professionally and personally for decades. Also, to her
daughter and our classmate, Betty, who suffers from ALS as
Tom did. The memorial asks for those who remember Tom (like
who can forget the Olds 442 or the best helicopter pilot in
the world) to give to the Everett ALS charitable fund.
